The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) divides Italian language proficiency into six levels, providing a clear structure for learners to track their progress.

LEVEL A1 – Beginner

At this level, learners can understand and use basic Italian phrases, introduce themselves, and communicate in simple, everyday situations.

LEVEL A2 - Elementary.

Students can engage in basic conversations, understand commonly used expressions, and talk about familiar topics such as family, shopping, and daily routines.

LEVEL B1 - Intermediate

Learners can express opinions, describe experiences, and handle everyday interactions, including travel situations. They understand the main points of discussions on familiar topics like work, school, and leisure.

LEVEL B2 – Upper Intermediate

At this stage, learners can communicate fluently with native speakers, understand complex texts, and express ideas clearly on various topics, including professional and academic subjects.

LEVEL C1 – Advanced

Students can use Italian effectively in social, professional, and academic settings. They can understand implicit meanings, produce well-structured texts, and speak fluently with accuracy.

LEVEL C2 – Proficient

At the highest level, learners can express themselves effortlessly and precisely, understanding and producing complex texts with ease, similar to a native speaker.
