Korean language proficiency is often measured using the TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) system, which is divided into six levels. These levels help learners track their progress and develop their skills effectively.

Level 1 – Beginner (TOPIK I-1)

Learners can understand and use basic Korean expressions, introduce themselves, and engage in simple conversations related to daily life, such as ordering food or shopping.

Level 2 – Elementary (TOPIK I-2)

At this level, students can understand frequently used sentences, hold basic conversations about familiar topics, and read and write short texts related to daily activities.

Level 3 – Intermediate (TOPIK II-3)

Learners can understand and use more complex sentences, discuss personal experiences, and handle everyday interactions in work or travel situations. They can read and comprehend short newspaper articles and public notices.

Level 4 – Upper Intermediate (TOPIK II-4)

Students can communicate effectively in social and professional settings, understand TV news and newspapers, and express their thoughts clearly on familiar subjects.

Level 5 – Advanced (TOPIK II-5)

At this stage, learners can understand and analyze detailed content on various topics, including politics, economics, and culture. They can function comfortably in most professional and academic environments.

Level 6 – Proficient (TOPIK II-6)

This is the highest level, where learners can communicate effortlessly like a native speaker, express nuanced opinions, and understand complex literary and academic texts.
